Khajuraho dance festival is held every year at the open-air auditorium in front of the Chitragupta Temple. This is a weeklong festival which has become legendary with its splendid traditional classical Indian dance performances presented in the backdrop of illuminated temples. Some of the best and well known performers come from all over India to participate in this festival. This cultural extravaganza is organized by the Madhya Pradesh Tourism Department and is promoted as one of the major cultural event in Khajuraho.

The Khajuraho Dance Festival is organised every year from 25th February to 2nd March. The weeklong Festival has become immensely popular as an event to enjoy Indian classical dance performances presented by some of the best artists and performers that have marked themselves in their fields. These famous artists come from the various states of India to participate in the festival. This cultural festival highlights the richness of the various Indian classical dance styles such as Kathak, Bharathanatyam, Odissi, Kuchipudi, Manipuri and Kathakali with performances of some of the best exponents in the field. Modern Indian dance has also been added recently.

Along with the renowned performers, a number of craftsmen display their crafts to the visitors. There is an open market where local articles are there for sale.
